Do I need to complete the full Ontario real estate program?

No. If you use the BC pathway, you do not need to complete the full Ontario education program.

Instead of 6 exams, you will:

• Complete 1 licensing exam in BC
• Complete 1 Interprovincial Challenge Exam in Ontario

Can I really transfer my real estate license from BC to Ontario?

Yes. It's 100% Legal. Under Canada’s interprovincial labour mobility rules, you can transfer your real estate license from British Columbia to Ontario.

Once you become licensed in BC, you can apply to the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) and complete the Interprovincial Challenge Exam instead of taking the full Ontario program.

After joining an Ontario brokerage, you can start working right away. Under Ontario’s “As of Right” rules, you have up to 6 months to pass the Interprovincial Challenge Exam while actively working.
